TECHNICAL SPOT:

WHAT IS UV DRYING?

UV drying is the polymerisation of a chemical system which is initiated by incident light.
The UV drying process requires a UV light source focused onto the formulated product.
Photo-initiators absorb the UV energy from the light source, setting in motion a chemical
reaction that quickly converts the liquid formulation into a plastic solid.
To initiate the polymerisation of the chemical formulation an incident radiation is necessary.
The radiation can be ionising or electromagnetic.
